Brian Traynor and Ryan Boettger represented PCS at IEEE Sections Congress—‚a triennial gathering of IEEE Section leadership—in Sydney, Australia in August this year. 1250 IEEE members from 165 countries participated the event. We were able to introduce PCS and its activities and publications to many IEEE members from around the world. Ryan’s Ignite Talk, which intercede PCS to the attendees, was a big success. Watch Ryan’s ignite talk here (https://ieeetv.ieee.org/conference-highlights/helping-your-members-building-writing-and-presentation-skills-ryan-boettger-sections-congress-2017).
We also participated in the IEEE 2017 International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS 2017 http://technologyandsociety.org/istas2017/), which was held just before the Sections Congress. Brian participated in the closing panel discussion titled “Trust and Social Implications of Technology and presented the importance of communication in building trust.
