San Diego SkylineThree times a year, the presidents of technical societies in IEEE meet to conduct the business of the Technical Activities Board.  The business ranges from getting updates on IEEE initiatives such as Smart Grid and IEEE in Africa to reviewing the financial state of the organization as a whole.  The meeting is also an important opportunity to spend time with other society presidents and to collaborate on projects of benefit to society members.

This year’s June TAB meeting is being held in San Diego, California.  This is the second time I’ve been to San Diego, and it certainly ranks as one of the most beautiful locations for any conference.  Despite the natural beauty outside, I am remaining inside the meeting room, using the TAB meeting to further PCS efforts to get our communication content and expertise out to the other IEEE societies.  This builds on our efforts in partnering with the Robotics and Automation Society to produce two one-hour webinars on topics of interest to RAS and PCS members.  Look for new webinars topics to be announced soon!
