The IEEE Professional Communication Society is seeking to fill two part-time positions to develop content for and maintain their website, in particular its resources on communication for engineers

1. IEEE ProComm Digital Content Curator

Qualifications:

  • Technical communication practitioner or faculty member in technical communication, engineering communication or related field
  • Well connected to other experts in the field (practitioners, faculty members, and graduate students) 
  • Experience developing online resources on technical, engineering, and professional communication

Duties: 

  • Solicit content from Faculty, graduate students, and professionals in industry to reach multiple audiences of the IEEE ProComm website
  • Plan, edit, and when necessary, write content of posts, for delivery to the IEEE Webmaster
  • Develop content strategy to meet interests and needs of professional engineers, academics teaching engineering communication, and graduate students 
  • Find opportunities for collaboration with other IEEE ProComm properties, such as the Transactions, book series, or the ProComm Conference, that would allow cross promotion of content
  • Plan content for 6 newsletters a year, each of which should highlight 3-4 new posts from the website as well as provide key Society updates
  • Report bi-monthly on progress to the ProComm Board of Governors

$5000-6000 USD Annually 

2. IEEE ProComm: P/T Web Developer

Qualifications:

  • Graduate student or recent graduate or new faculty member in technical communication, engineering communication or related field
  • Expertise in WordPress publishing platform and associated plugins
  • Familiarity with HTML editing 
  • Experience in web design, layout and publishing

Duties: 

  • Handle all requests for announcements, page additions and revisions, new postings for the IEEE ProComm
  • Perform routine maintenance for IEEE ProComm site
  • Perform annual evaluation of website architecture and organization, and revise as needed
  • Check and report on website traffic statistics
  • In consultation with the IEEE ProComm Digital Content Curator, design and implement revisions to website as needed to improve usability and presentation 
  • Monitor and post to social media accounts
  • Approx. 8-10 hours monthly

 $3000 – 3500 USD annually,
