IEEE ProComm Welcomes a New IEEE Student Branch

The inaugural event of the IEEE Professional Communication Society (ProComm) marked a significant milestone for the inauguration of the new IEEE Student Branch Chapter at P.A. College of Engineering, Mangaluru, India. With an aim to emphasize the importance of professional communication in the global engineering and technology space, the event featured distinguished speakers, interactive sessions, and engaging discussions.

Inauguration Presentation by Dr. Pam Estes Brewer

Dr. Brewer, Professor and Chair of Technical Communication at Mercer University, USA, and a member of the IEEE PCS Board of Governors, delivered the inaugural address. Her talk focused on the mission and vision of the IEEE ProComm Society to foster professional communication globally. PACE is one the newest among top five PCS chapters in India. She highlighted the role of effective communication in collaboration, ethical practices, and innovation within the technological domain. She urged students to actively participate in ProComm initiatives to expand their global networks and contribute to projects aimed at societal betterment and she also offered our IEEE ProComm student members the opportunity to Volunteer in the annual Conference, which is going to happen Denmark in July 2025.

The event was presided over by Dr. Ramis M.K., Principal of P.A. College of Engineering, who reiterated the institution’s commitment to preparing students for the demands of the modern engineering workforce. The inaugural event laid a strong foundation for future activities under IEEE ProComm, focusing on workshops, seminars, and collaborative projects.
