Speaker Profile:

Professor Necia Werner is the Immediate Past President of the IEEE Professional Communication (ProComm) and a member of the ProComm Board of Governors. She received her Ph.D. in English from Carnegie Mellon University, where she is an Associate Teaching Professor of English and Director of Undergraduate Studies. Professor Werner teaches courses in professional and technical communication, and her research grants and publications focus on methods for improving the teaching of technical communication to students in engineering and the sciences. Currently, she is engaged in research on improving diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the teaching of technical communication as a recipient of the Provost’s Inclusive Teaching Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon.
